Terms of Use
Version 2026-10-12-draft
These terms govern your use of Likely People (the "Service"), operated by Likely People LLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.
1. What the Service does
The Service generates synthetic survey responses: rows of answers produced by statistical models and artificial intelligence from the questions you supply and a description of a population. No real person answered them. Demographic fields are taken from public US Census microdata records; the answers attached to them are generated.
2. Accuracy and suitable uses
Synthetic data are an estimate. Each file comes with a statement of what it is worth, based on our own tests; actual accuracy for your questions and population may be lower. Use synthetic data for exploration, design, teaching, piloting and planning. Do not use it as a substitute for real data where real people's answers are required.
3. Acceptable use
You must not:
- present synthetic data as responses from real people, or submit it as real data to a journal, funder, regulator, client, court or any other party, without clearly disclosing that it is synthetic;
- use the Service to make or support decisions about specific individuals' eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, education, healthcare or government benefits, or for clinical diagnosis or treatment;
- upload personal data about identifiable people other than the anonymous survey answers the Service asks for, or any health, financial or other sensitive information about identifiable people;
- enter questions that are unlawful, harassing or designed to produce hateful content;
- attempt to probe, scan, overload or break the security of the Service, or access another user's account or files;
- resell the Service itself, or scrape or copy its models, without our written permission.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of the questions you submit. "Study content" means the questions, answer options, instructions and population settings you submit, and the data files and other deliverables we generate from them.
You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual and irrevocable license to store, copy, analyze and otherwise use study content (a) to provide the Service to you, including sending question text to the AI providers listed in the Privacy Policy, and (b) for research and to develop, evaluate and improve our services and models, including training them. We will not publish your questions or files in a form that identifies you or your organization, and we will not provide them to other customers as your work.
Do not submit questions you are not permitted to share with us on these terms (for example, confidential material you are bound to keep private). You are responsible for having the right to use the questions you submit (for example, copyrighted questionnaires).
5. The files you receive
Subject to these terms and payment, you may use the data files we generate for any lawful purpose consistent with section 3, including commercially.
6. Accounts
Keep your password confidential; you are responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 18 years old. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
7. Payment
Prices are shown before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details. Offer codes are subject to their stated limits and may be withdrawn. Refunds are covered by the Refund Policy.
8. Availability
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or discontinue features.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The Service and all generated data are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including decisions made using synthetic data.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be shown when you next sign in; the version you accepted is recorded with your account.
11. Law and contact
